Kick-Off for a Great Cause: Academia Supports Katherine Warington School’s New 3G Pitch and Prostate Cancer Fundraiser

We’re thrilled to be supporting local school, Katherine Warington School (KWS) in Harpenden, Herts with their creation of a new 3G Pitch.

KWS will be holding a formal opening ceremony – joined by guest Mick Harford – ex professional footballer and manager. Mick enjoyed a successful footballing career with Sunderland, Chelsea, Derby and Luton with whom he won the League Cup in 1988. He went on to manage clubs such as Hull City, Nottingham Forest and Queens Park Rangers to name just a few.

Mick is a big supporter of Prostate Cancer, raising awareness and fundraising. To celebrate the opening of the pitch, Academia and other sponsors will be raising money for Prostate Cancer UK and have created a Just Giving page to enable donations to be made: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/KWS-3G-Pitch

Alongside Mick, we will be joined at the Opening Ceremony by Dr T Gillham, who will be speaking on the Mental Health and Wellbeing benefits of sports as well as Men’s Health.

Mark McCormack, Managing Director, Academia comments “I’m really proud of all our partners and employees who continue to be an inspiring force for good. We are committed to ensure that every penny we raise is going to help fund vital life-saving research and support”.
